Caldas da Raínha
The origin of the obscene crockery from Caldas da Rainha is still unknown until today. There are several myths, one of which describes that King Luis I wanted to offer something original to some Spanish guests and had the idea of ordering a piece in the shape of a “phallus” (Penis) from a Chaldean artisan. This king was known as being cheeky and playful.
Nowadays, the phallus of Caldas is known worldwide and is no longer a hidden and ashamed tradition.
