Portuguese attire varies from region to region, as does the cuisine and music. However, there was the habit of women wearing a skirt and a shawl placed on their head and men wearing pants, a shirt and a cape.
Traditional attire varies depending on the region but also depends on the profession and whether or not it is a party attire. For example, in the costume of Nazaré, in which women worked on the beaches to fish, there are no clogs or shoes.
In the Algarve costume, a hat is used to protect from the sun and in the case of the Trás-os-Montes costume, a burel cape is used due to the cold that is felt.
The most well-known costume is the costume of Minho, which can be presented in red for single women and in blue or green for married women, but all costumes are equally traditional.
