Carnation Flower Collection

Portugal lived under dictatorship for 48 years, a long silence filled with fear but kept alive by hidden hope. On April 25, 1974, that hope rose when soldiers entered Lisbon to free the country.

Celeste Caeiro, carrying leftover carnations from a canceled celebration, offered the flowers to the soldiers. They placed them in their rifles, and the carnation became the symbol of a peaceful revolution.

Red came to mean courage and freedom. Green stood for renewal and the quiet strength of a nation that never gave up. Inspired by this story, the artist Ana shaped a ceramic piece that honors the day Portugal recovered its voice. Her work carries the spirit of the country: red for bravery, green for hope, and clay for endurance. It is a tribute to a people who chose peace and to the freedom that still guides them.
